Bioderma recently launched their new products from the Hydrabio range, Hydrabio Perfecteur, Hydrabio Rich Moisturising Creme and Gel-Creme. We were invited to the launch event on 15th July 2016, at Pool Bar & Grill, Le Meridien Hotel, KL Sentral.
Bioderma Hydrabio Perfecteur
Our Founder, Veron’s favourites, dessert & coffee! Food were allowed into the meeting room =D
We were treated with some nice cocktail session before we were brought into the meeting room. Presenter explained the importance of a well hydrated skin and how Bioderma’s Hydrabio range could help you achieve that with their latest technology in skin care.
“Aquagenium Patent + Skin-Mimetic Technology helps the skin to generate deep hydration and instant radiance in a lasting way” ~ Bioderma Laboratoire Dermatologique
To know more about the range and it’s technology, read more about it here and grab yourself some samples too!
We were given a set of Hydrabio’s products, Hydrabio H2O Moisturising Makeup Removing Micelle Solution, Toning Lotion, Serum, Gel Creme (light moisturising lotion), Creme (rich moisturising creme) and the all in one wonder product Hydrabio Perfecteur with SPF 30.
Now, how does these products fared? Let’s find out!
My skin condition: Slightly dehydrated, with very fine lines along my laugh lines, tiny pores around my cheeks, lack radiance
This product range is targeted for Dehydrated Sensitive Skin. Though my skin is not particularly sensitive, but I have normal combination skin with oily T-Zone. After using it for 2 weeks now, I’m very impressed with the products overall and I would recommend it if you are looking for products that works!
When I tried using it to remove my mascara (Etude House Dr. Lash Fixer smudge & water proof mascara base + Maybelline’s mascara), it couldn’t remove it. I also tried removing my MAC gel liner to no avail (whether it was applied on top of UD’s eye primer or using it alone) It could not completely removed it after wiping my eyelid for many times with 2 or 3 cotton pads. As comparison, I could easily remove my MAC gel liner applied same way as mentioned with L’Oreal’s makeup remover easily in 1 or 2 wipes on a single cotton pad. However, removing my eyeshadows applied on top of UD’s primer was a success without much wiping.
Overral this is a great makeup remover if you only have powder, foundation, concealer or blusher and some light eye makeup. Meaning no heavy duty makeup if you wanna use this.
It is also great as a daily cleanser without having to use water to wash it off after. It’s moisturising and the fresh floral & ocean scent throughout this line is refreshing. Though it might be a bit strong for others.
I’m not a toner person in general. However, Bioderma’s Hydrabio Tonique Lotion is very refreshing to use, and it does not contains alcohol of any kind to irritate the skin. Though it leaves a sticky feeling on its own after a while, but I think it does help the subsequent products to absorb better. I soak a cotton pad with the toner and apply all over my face. With the remaining amount left on the cotton pad, I will randomly leave it on my face, i.e. forehead, nose, the triangle areas below my eyes to let my skin further absorb its goodness while I apply other products.
“The Aquagenium™ biological patent found in Hydrabio Tonique retrains the skin to activate its natural moisturising capacities by stimulating the production of aquaporins, water channels in the skin, and retain the water it needs to be balanced”
I always thought serum is too rich for my skin and the ones I tried all felt heavy and oily. However, Hydrabio Serum’s texture is velvety smooth, in a gel like form. It is tailored for all skin types, can be used alone or combine with other product from the series. You can even used it alone under your makeup. I tried using it alone, and it made my face felt velvety smooth, fresh and light, non sticky or oily. It practically made me starts to like serum 🙂 I use the serum together with the Gel Creme on days when I felt like some splurging on my skin hehe…
The texture of this Gel-Creme, is not too solid nor watery. Doesn’t felt oily or heavy. It just felt luxurious and fresh, After the 1st use, I noticed my skin looked radiant, with a healthy soft glow not shine like some moisturizer does to my face. My face looked healthy, plump, well hydrated! Another plus point is that, my face remains radiant few hours later and my skin does not turns into an oil slick lol… Though it felt a tiny weeny bit sticky, but it was acceptable for me.
This product is specially for dehydrated sensitive normal to combination skin which lack radiance. Hm…. I think it sounds like is for my kinda skin =D
“By eliminating dead cells, and progressively reducing cornea layer, the skin’s upper layer, salicylic acid equalizes and smoothes the skin’s surface, which lastingly gains radiance”
Hydrabio Creme comes in a jar together with a spatula. It is slightly more solid than the gel-creme, like a creamy spreadable butter 😛 It certainly does felt a little bit richer than the gel-creme. This creme is for dehydrated sensitive dry to very dry skin with lack of radiance. Out of all the products I got from the set, this creme is the one I use the less. I only use it at night, on days that I felt my skin need some intense hydration.
After applying it, my skin does felt ‘heavier’, like there’s a layer of something sitting on top. Probably it is because my skin is not meant for what this product is targeting. However, I have only used it for about 3 times now (maybe once or twice a week) and so far it has not caused my skin to break out. My face felt a lil bit oily the next morning and that rich moisturising effect lingers. I think this product could be very useful if you are in places that makes your skin feels dry or dehydrated, i.e. air-condition room, winter season.
This is the real gem of the Hydrabio series. Suitable for all skin types, Bioderma Hydrabio Perfecteur with SPF 30 is an all in one, wonder product. It is a moisturiser, skin smoother, skin brigthener, sun block and makeup base. Sounds too good to be true? In fact, it is. It works.
Upon 1st usage, I noticed my complexion brightens instantly and my face appears smoother. Thanks to its ingredients that includes soft-focus powders and pearls! Tiny pores and micro wrinkles/fine lines were instantly blurred. Its texture is very similar to the creme, it doesn’t spread as easily as the creme tho.
I have tested it with my usual foundation routine, i.e. MAC + RCMA foundation set with RCMA No Color Powder and MAC + MaqPro foundation set with RCMA No Color Powder. Both RCMA and MaqPro are wax based foundation, in my opinion which works better on my skin and our weather. I dislike how silicone base foundation would degrades/wears off and becomes patchy around my oily zone.
Bioderma Hydrabio Perfecteur SPF 30 works great as a skin prep prior to applying my foundation. Once I’m done, my face looks radiant, plump and smoother. Best is, it does help my foundation to last longer. My T-zone doesn’t becomes oily as fast as compared to when I’m using other skin care. At the end of the day, my skin still look hydrated, foundation & powder didn’t settled into fine lines along my laugh line 🙂
If you only have budget to get only 1 item from Bioderma, then Hydrabio Perfecteur SPF 30 is the MUST HAVE item! Finally a wonderful all in one product that works on many levels to help give you that long lasting hydration, radiance and smooth skin effect.
Verdict: Try it to believe it. It is a range of products that works and doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg.
